Casino Bonus Principles

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Online casinos offer big profit opportunities to newbies because they are attempting to entice more and more new casino players to sign up and to make a few deposits.

Normally each casino game has a built-in advantage for the house. It is the reason that supplies casinos with their gaming profits. Definitely the house edge in the long run is a guarantee for the online casinos to get their profit. But before that online casinos need depositing players. The casinos basically have one of the most convincing teasers for the potential players, but it is a great one: money. This free casino money in a form of casino bonus completely change the house edge in favour of the player.

The principles

The principles are simple: you sign up an account and deposit – let’s say $100. For the new client, the casino would match your deposit with the casino bonus money of $100. Hey, that’s great especially if the casino allows cashing out the bonus straightaway. Obviously the casinos would have all gone bankrupt next day after launching if the allow players to milk their free casino bonus money so easy. That is why in the casino terms and conditions you would find that requirements to play a certain amount before you would be permitted to make a withdrawal of your funds. Let’s say at the casino where we get 100% match casino bonus of $100 the wagering requirement 20 times the amount of the casino deposit and the casino bonus combined. This means you have to place a total of $4000 in bets before the cashing out is permitted. Casino player may place 40 bets of $100 each, or 800 bets of $5, or 4000 bets of $1. It is definitely a good deal as far as the casino allows to wager on the casino games where the house advantage over a player is low enough to extract a certain profit out of the casino bonus.

The house edge of the casino games varies greatly. The casino games which have a skill element, the edge is defined as the house advantage from optimal play. Depending on the house rules the house edge for the casino blackjack ranges from almost zero to 2%. Find more about Blackjack here: On-line casinos for those who like BlackJack.

In other words if you play perfect Blackjack Basic Strategy on six deck blackjack table the house advantage is 0.5%. One-half of one percent of $4000 is $20. So, it is possible to expect upon the completion of the wagering requirements to have $180 remaining of the starting balance of $200. That is $80 clear profit on the investment of $100. This type of the casino bonus requires conservative wagering with small stacks helping to avoid big fluctuations of the hands results.

Now it is up to the player to decide if the casino bonus profit looks reasonable to sign up the casino account estimating the amount of time it would take to meet the casino bonus wagering requirements.

Let’s say if you have to wager $50000 of $5 bets expecting to get casino bonus profit of $25, it is not worth your time even if you play blackjack faster than other casino players. Either the casino bonus is too small or the wagering requirement is too big, the time of the casino player is worth more than that. However there are plenty online casinos offering decent casino bonus promotions. With the latest high speed internet connection the casino games are pretty fast to play and lots of players can play up to 600 hands per hour.

Obviously online casinos realized that lots of players simply just milking the casino bonus money jumping from one casino to another. That is why casinos have been forced to put certain restrictions to prevent this from happening: increased casino bonus wagering requirements, implemented restrictions on some games from qualifying wagering requirements, created new types of casino bonuses.

On the other hand depending on the casino bonus type, casino bonus wagering requirements, restricted games for wagering professional players are able to beat the casinos by using different casino bonus strategies.

Dwarf Fortress 0.31.10

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

All right. So these releases include some ongoing work on combat, mostly, and other bug fixes, as well as some token work on the new dev page. The forum became corrupted while I was releasing 0.31.09, and I ended staying up until… around noon or something cleaning up the forum, and I eventually got 0.31.09 up yesterday afternoon. It had a few bad bugs, which led to 0.31.10 and very little sleep. Those bugs are hopefully fixed now without having new friends to replace them, so that I can start up on the next release cycle properly.

I’ve got emails to catch up on, some other B12 stuff, and sleeping to do, so it might be a slow day or two now (assuming the release marathon doesn’t continue…). We’re going to continue on with bug fixes, of course, and we’re still choosing the dev page items to do next. Lately we’ve been shifting between getting enough entity pop stuff in to open up the rest of the list, basic combat enhancements like aiming, and getting a few more of the adventurer skills done, but no decisions have been made.

A Tale in the Desert 4 Coming to an End

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

A Tale in the Desert 4 is swiftly coming to a close and eGenesis has announced the end-game activities. Players will vote on which of the two brothers who have been dividing Egypt all tale are to be Pharaoh. In doing so, players will also be choosing whether to have new tests or new technologies coded in A Tale in the Desert 5.

The sons of Pharaoh, who passed away after A Tale in the Desert 3, have been pulling the players in opposite directions since A Tale in the Desert 4 began. Sami believes in living the good life and in leisure, while Wahim thinks hard work and challenges are the way to find meaning. Finally the players will get a say as they choose between Sami and Wahim. The winner of a server-wide election will become the Pharaoh of Egypt as it moves into A Tale in the Desert 5.

This decision will have other long lasting repercussions. If players choose Wahim, it will be business as usual, as the tests they are designing for the monuments in A Tale in the Desert 4 will be implemented in Tale 5. However, if they choose Sami, there will be no new player designed tests. Instead, the players will be able to invent 7 new technologies, which could completely change the content of the game. The passing technologies will be coded for Tale 5. Technologies affect how things are crafted and built in the game, as everything, from wood planed into boards to blowing glass to the giant monuments at the end, is built by the players using technology.

“Never before have players been able to direct Scientists at Egypt’s Great Universities to imagine entirely new skills and technologies. Furthermore, I have no idea how the election will go: a vote for Sami is a vote to turn away from the goals that many have pursued over the last 18 months; a vote for Wahim gives up an opportunity to affect a part of the game that players have never had a chance to control.”

Players interested in A Tale in the Desert today can download the client from http://atitd.com. A free trial is available in the current telling and new players will be able to participate in the end-game activities. Follow http://twitter.com/atitd to keep on top of all the latest happenings.

Planet Stronghold Alpha Available !

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

I’ve just uploaded an Alpha version of my upcoming sci-fi RPG Planet Stronghold:

http://www.didone.com/games/PSAlpha-mac.zip (Mac)
http://www.didone.com/games/PSAlpha-win32.zip (Pc)
http://www.didone.com/games/PSAlpha-linux-x86.tar.bz2 (Linux)

just two battle demo, inventory/skills screens and you can use first 2 psionic powers in the battle. Not very long, but is just an alpha! I’m going to redesign the battle interface to add a tooltip panel in the bottom, and try to make the tutorial less boring using more visual references and shorter phrases. I want to make the game accessible to everyone, even casual players (hopefully!).

4 Linux Games You Probably Have Not Played

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

It is no secret that Linux is not a popular gaming platform. Despite that stigma, however, the open nature of Linux makes it easy, even for relatively inexperienced developers, to produce quality games. Therefore, while the number of high-rated Linux game titles may be small in comparison to Windows or gaming consoles, there are a number of quality free and commercial games out there.

Most of the Linux sites that list games tend to highlight the same bunch; however, there are a few hidden gems that you may have missed but are still worth playing. In no particular order, here are four you might want to try.

Wesnoth 1.8.3: Maintenance Release

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Wesnoth 1.8.3 has been released. This is a bugfix release for the stable 1.8 branch. This release does mainly consist of smaller fixes and changes. For information about further changes in this release, have a look at this forum thread.
We offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache…
At the moment the Windows package and the MacOSX packages are ready. You can find them at the download page. Once the others are done you can find them at the download page, too. If you find a bug, please report it.

Five best free Linux games of 2010

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Best is subjective. My best may not be your best. Still, I wanted to share with you my perception of the best Linux games you can have installed on your machine, in year 2010, Gregorian Calendar. These games offer an unrivaled mix of storyline, attention to detail and a balance between realism and plain ole fun. These are more than just games you will play for a few minutes and then toss away forever. These are games that you will keep returning to, even if they sit abandoned on the digital shelf for a a few months or even years. They are special.

What makes them special?

Well, for me, it’s a combination of legacy, reminiscence and nostalgia combined, plus damn good fun. Some of these games are reincarnations of childhood titans, games that have kept me plastered to the chair and playing, playing, playing until pixels ran out. Then, all of a sudden, you get a mega-upgrade, however unlike movie sequels that come a decade too late, these were a tremendous success. The rest are just plain good games, as simple as that. Fun, with a good mix of solid gameplay, system requirements and graphics.
