TINY&BIG – UP THAT MOUNTAIN

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Set in a land, where common physics apply but everything else looks different.

You are Tiny, a little, technophile guy with a ray cutter, a gripping device, a bad habit and

a fine attitude towards the world. But now your nemesis Big stole the only

heritage your grandpa left you: A fine pair of white, fine rib underpants and

he‘s surely up to no good. Why else should he climb that haunted, ancient mountain

in the desert. Where noone goes…

So load up that raygun and rope device and take your annoying and jabbering backpack

to accompany you. It‘s always been good use to your gramps.

Run, jump, drag, shove and laser your way up that mountain, get back those underpants!

Features:
  • Runs on our own gear, the ScApe Engine
  • Dynamic hatch on environment and in shadows
  • Realistic custom physics
  • Tooling around with raygun and grappling hook
  • All textures completely analogue drawn and handmade
  • popping sounds
  • … a talking backpack

Commercial Gaming, Coming Soon to Linux?

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Whichever way you look at it, consumers want to be able to play the latest commercial computer games.

Sure, Linux has a myriad of fantastic free games available (and even a number of commercial ones) for the platform, but that’s not good enough for gamers. Does the latest and greatest hot off the press game run on Linux? No. Does an awesome proprietary game from 10 years ago run on Linux? Possibly.

The lack of commercial gaming on Linux continues to be a stumbling block for many and the current gaming market keeps them on Windows. (Indeed, many otherwise full time Linux users dual boot Windows for games.)

Wesnoth 1.7.14 aka 1.8-beta7: Development Release

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

The seventh beta for 1.8 is ready. Please note that due to a critical bug fix only versions >=1.7.14 are allowed on the development multiplayer server. For more details about this and celebrating the new release please visit this forum thread.
As with the last releases, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache…
At the moment the Windows package and the MacOSX packages are ready. You can find them at the download page. Once the others are done you can find them at the download page, too. Please keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite many bugs. If you find one, report it.

FreeCol 0.9.2 released

Monday, March 8th, 2010
FreeCol 0.9.2 has been released.

This is a bug/feature-fix release, the main changes being:

  • The increased native land claims in 0.9.1 have been reverted to the more moderate 0.9.0 behaviour, following comment that this made the game too difficult.  This feature will be back in a later release, but only after implementing the feature that at least exempts your first colony from having to buy its land (as was the case with the original Colonization).
  • Fixed a serious bug in privateer combat.

No new features were introduced with this release, and saved games from previous 0.9.x versions should remain compatible.  We hope this release will provide a stable, playable and enjoyable version of FreeCol.

FreeCol 0.9.1 released

Monday, March 1st, 2010
After several months of development, we are proud to release FreeCol 0.9.1.
This is purely a bug-fixing release that does not add any new features. The most notable bug squashed is one that prevented the REF from landing in the New World after you declare independence.
