Sunday, June 15th, 2008

For most hardcore gamers, Linux is taboo since they probably think that they cannot play their favorite Windows-only games with it. They do have a point of staying away from Linux, but if they knew that they can play some of their most wanted games on Linux, will they take the switch?

A program called Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) allows Unix-like computer operating systems on the x86 architecture to execute programs written for Microsoft Windows. Wine also provides a software library known as Winelib which developers can compile Windows applications alongside to help port them to Unix-like systems.

Wesnoth 1.4.3: Maintenance Release

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Wesnoth 1.4.3 has been released. This is a bugfix release for the stable 1.4.x branch. In this release several smaller bugs were fixed and many translations were updated. To read about other (more important changes, celebrate the release and comment on it, have a look at this forum thread. As with the last development series, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache…
At the moment only the Gentoo, Debian and Windows binaries are ready. Once the others are done you can find them at the download page. We hope there are no bugs left, but if you find any, report them.
